Well....this is Greece. The auctions for the beach bars and sunbed licences have been put back until somewhere between June 5th to 10th as dictated by the Greek Government. As a result the Mayor has told the licence owners from last year they can open now if they want, but many may not make the investment if they don't know if they will win in the auction. Be prepared to take your own food / drink to the beach until end June!  

Good News! The auctions were held on Tuesday for the Beach Tavernas and Sunbeds so they can all now go ahead and fully open. A few changes in owners and some record prices reached....It seems that the licences have been issued for 4 years (rather than 2), so this should help going forward.
